LA Kings Open to 'Tampa-Ottawa Type' Trades
The Los Angeles Kings are hoping the 2020-21 NHL season is much better than the year before which led to them landing the #2 overall pick at the draft. General manager, Rob Blake knows he's got a ton of work to do to get the Kings back into contention and it starts with his veteran core bouncing back. It also doesn't hurt the team over $12 million in cap space and the GM admits, he's open to getting creative with trades.
LAK GM Rob Blake says he would explore a deal comparable to the Ottawa-Tampa one, utilizing cap space to acquire assets and has had conversations with teams with cap issues.

Teams like the Vegas Golden Knights, St Louis Blues, Edmonton Oilers and Carolina Hurricanes could all use some cap relief and it sounds like the Kings have talked to just about all of them.
The Kings currently have two 2nd-round picks, two 3rd-round picks, and two 4th-round picks at the next draft and it's likely the team starts the 2021 draft with several more. While Blake has made it loud and clear he's willing to deal, don't expect to see any of their veteran core traded at this time.

Kings GM Rob Blake confirms - the plan is to maybe get Byfield, Turcotte, Kaliyev, etc. a few NHL games. However, don't look for them to burn a year off of their ELCs by giving them 7+ games.
