Max Pacioretty Responds to Latest Trade Rumors

Max Pacioretty is a Vegas Golden Knight, and by the sounds of it he's happy to stay that way. Recently reports surfaced regarding Pacioretty's name in some trade rumors, and Golden Knights owner, Bill Foley stepped in and squashed those pretty quick.

The 32-year-old forward has three years left on his deal that sees him make $7 million per season on the cap. The actual cash is only $5.25 million per season for Vegas, so if he was being traded, it's appealing to other teams.

Any time you can get a 30-goal scorer for $5.25 million cash you make it happen. Pacioretty has a 10-team no trade list, but from all accounts, hasn't submitted a list to Vegas, after it was reported by TSN's Frank Seravalli that Pacioretty was being discussed in trade rumors.

Pacioretty recently met with the media and of course, the trade rumors came up and this is what the veteran had to say about the noise:

I played in Montreal for 10 years so this is lightweight stuff. I've heard a lot worse. I was a captain too, so you can imagine after a bad year the stuff I heard. This is nothing.

True, the media out of Montreal can be a rough go for anyone, especially the captain. Vegas is still trying to make some moves before the season starts in the middle of January, as they are in a serious cap crunch. If Pacioretty is indeed staying, expect to see Jonathan Marchessault dealt before the season begins.
