The 24-year-old Blackwood is one of the promising young goalies in the league and is expected to work in tandem with newly signed veteran, Corey Crawford.
Blackwood, the former second-round pick posted a stellar season last year in New Jersey with a 2.77 goals against average and a .915 save percentage. The Devils are one of the teams to watch in the eastern conference and could surprise and sneak into the top-four of their division, which now lands you a playoff spot.
An affordable contract for one of the more promising goaltenders in the league, great move for the Devils and an early Christmas present for the Blackwood family.
Blackwood's shot map is interesting. He mostly stopped the ones he should've and was way better than expectation. But he did give up goals on a bunch of slap shots from the right point (and none from the left). pic.twitter.com/5oEseS5egA
