New Jersey Signs Top Prospect to Three-Year Deal
The New Jersey Devils have come to terms with one of their top prospects, Dawson Mercer on a three-year entry level deal. The Newfoundland native was a first-round selection, 18th overall out of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
The #NJDevils have signed 2020 first-round pick Dawson Mercer to a three-year entry-level contract, the club announced. Mercer is in Edmonton to represent Canada at the WJC. He will return to the QMJHL after, and is old enough to play in the AHL next season.

Mercer is currently representing the Canadian World Junior team and has been a force early on in the tournament. Even though he's playing a depth spot in the lineup, Mercer has already collected five points in two games. Before the QMJHL season was paused, Mercer tallied seven points in five games.
