Philadelphia Flyers Sign RFA Defenseman

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced they have come to terms with restricted free-agent defenseman, Phillippe Myers on a three-year deal. The towering right-handed defenseman will make an average annual value of $2.55 million.

The soon-to-be 24-year-old finished last season appearing in 50 games, collecting 16 points. During the Flyers playoff run, which included 16 games, Myers flourished and really turned heads with his poise and skating abilities for someone 6'5.

Myers went undrafted and has will be entering his third season. Flyers general manager, Chuck Fletcher had this to say about keeping Myers in the fold:

We're happy to have Phil signed for the next three years. He is a big, mobile, right-shot defenseman who progressed into a top-four role on our blue line last season. We look forward to his continued growth.

Look for Myers to play roughly 20 minutes a night next season in Philly, and improve on his point totals from last season. From all accounts, this is a great contract for the team, who still have $2.2 million in cap space.
