Report: Vegas and Nashville Discussed Marchessault Deal
It was reported earlier this week that the Vegas Golden Knights were doing whatever they could to unload some salary. The likes of Max Pacioretty, Marc-Andre Fleury and Jonathan Marchessault were all mentioned and we brought you the reports on each.
Turns out my assumption the Nashville Predators would be all over Jonathan Marchessault was on point.
Friedman: “I think Vegas talked to Nashville about Jonathan Marchessault and that didn’t go anywhere, I don’t think.” #VegasBorn #Preds

Hockey insider, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet mentions the talks have stalled, which doesn't mean they can't be revisited. The Golden Knights owner came out and said Pacioretty isn't going anywhere, which means a Marchessault deal is much more likely.
The 29-year-old versatile forward has four years left on his deal that pays him $5 million per season. Predators general manager David Poile is a stickler for giving up draft picks, so it makes sense the initial talks didn't get far, as Vegas is after some cheap future assets.
While Marchessault has eight teams on his no-trade list, playing hockey in 'Smashville' is likely something he wants to be a part of. Keep an eye on these two teams, something big is brewing.
