Rumor: Boston Bruins to Sign Free-Agent Defenseman
The Boston Bruins still have almost $3 million in cap space and they're currently in the market for another defenseman. The team has had lots of dialogue with long-time Bruin Zdeno Chara and his agent and there's certainly a chance the towering defenseman heads back to Bean Town for another season. Even with Chara potentially coming back, the Bruins aren't done.
According to several reports, the team is also expected to bring in unrestricted free-agent Ben Hutton on a professional tryout.
Boston is among the teams with interest in UFA LD Ben Hutton, who also drew interest from Edmonton (Oilers signed Slater Koekkoek yesterday).

The Bruins only have six defenseman on their current roster and that's certainly going to change before opening night.
The 27-year-old Hutton was originally a 5th-round selection at the 2012 draft by the Vancouver Canucks. Last season Hutton appeared in 65 games for the Los Angeles Kings, collecting 16 points. Before his year in California, Hutton played four seasons in Vancouver. In 341 career games, Hutton has 86 points and is a career minus 70.
