Steen's contract will be treated as an injured player, so his $5.75 million cap hit will still apply and he will be paid his $3.5 million salary. #stlblues

The news comes as a bit of a shock and certainly not the way Steen wanted to go out. The veteran winger spent his career with the Blues and the Toronto Maple Leafs who drafted Steen in the first round back in 2002.
We wish Steen nothing but the best in his retirement.
