Trade Rumor: Patrik Laine to the Carolina Hurricanes
The Winnipeg Jets are dealing with the most drama of any team in the league as they have two players who are unhappy with the team and prefer to be moved in Jack Roslovic and Patrik Laine.

While Roslovic isn't signed and won't be in Winnipeg for training camp, Laine will be but that doesn't mean a move won't be made. His representatives went public stating a split for both parties may be beneficial and we'll all wait and see if Jets general manager, Kevin Cheveldayoff will pull the trigger. For now, the GM is doing his best to deflect from the reports:
I tried to do my job this summer in looking at all the different options to improve our team and I think we have done that. As far as with Patrik, again, I assume he’s probably going to have one of the best years of his career given the group of players that we have and the professionalism that is there. And the maturity level that all players gain year over year over year, I think just helps us move forward.
And while Cheveldayoff hopes Laine has matured and will want to stay, there's been speculation brewing the Carolina Hurricanes and Jets have discussed a blockbuster deal including Laine.

This deal makes some sense for the Hurricanes because Hamilton is a unrestricted free-agent next year so his extension demands could make him too expensive for the team. They also have a very deep defense. Meanwhile they'd be acquiring Laine, who is a restricted free-agent next summer and gives the team more control. Laine and his buddy Sebastian Aho would be scary together.
If the Jets were to make this deal you can bet they would want extension talks granted before pulling the trigger to make sure they can convince Hamilton to stick around.
Interesting trade potential between these two clubs, keep you eye on the storm brewing in Winnipeg.
