Washington Capitals Sign Free-Agent Goaltender
The Washington Capitals have found a replacement for Henrik Lundqvist, as the team has signed veteran Craig Anderson to a professional tryout. Anderson will make his way to training camp with the Capitals and battle for the backup position with Phoenix Copley and Zach Fucale.
#Caps sign goaltender Craig Anderson to a professional tryout agreement. Anderson, 39, registered an 11-17-2 record with a 3.25 GAA and a .902 save percentage in 34 games with Ottawa last season.

We reported December 18th that Anderson would be an option for the Capitals. Adding some veteran presence behind Ilya Samsonov was the reason Lundqvist was signed in the first place.
For Anderson, last season in Ottawa he appeared in 34 games and managed a .902 save percentage on a really bad Senators team.
The Capitals still have limited funds even with Lundqvist making way to the LTIR, so don't expect too many headlining moves by the team. Perhaps another veteran or two gets invited to training camp like Anderson.
