3 Teams Sent Winnipeg Jets Trade Offers
The Winnipeg Jets were hit with the news last fall that Patrik Laine prefers to play for another organization where he can solidify himself as a top-line player. Jets head coach, Paul Maurice has notoriously held back Laine from playing on the team's top line with their big guns, and Laine has had enough. His agent notified the team in October about his desire for a trade.
A handful of teams have serious interest and according to Pierre LeBrun via the Athletic, three teams have been in contact with the Jets and held trade discussions:
But of course, the trade has to make sense. If Cheveldayoff had found a good deal, he would have pulled the trigger. Sources confirm the likes of Philadelphia, Carolina and Columbus spoke to Winnipeg about Laine back in the fall, but nothing came of it. At least not yet.
Carolina for Dougie Hamilton has been rumored, there's been talks about a Laine for Dubois swap with Columbus, which now makes sense given Dubois wants out and Philadelphia tried hard to move Shayne Gostisbehere in a package.
All reasonable deals, but none that were finalized. That could be changing real soon.
