Alex Ovechkin Isn't Worried About His Next Contract
If you ask Alex Ovechkin if he's worried that he doesn't have a contract for next season, he'll flat out tell you not one bit. The Washington Capitals and the Russian sniper have decided it's probably better suited for a conversation after the season to work out his next deal. Ovechkin has decided he doesn't need an agent and will be negotiating on his own.
When you've already made hundreds of millions playing hockey, you can do those kinds of things.

The Capitals franchise player finished last season with 48 goals in 68 games and will look to hover around the 30-goal mark this season in 56-games. The Capitals have high expectations going into this season and that has nothing to do with Zdeno Chara's height.
The Capitals brought in the longtime rival and they signed veteran goaltender Craig Anderson shortly before, so the team is trying it's best to plug in those last few holes before the season starts.
If Washington doesn't reach the final four they will consider this year a bust, so Ovechkin knows he needs to focus on the ice and not off it to ensure his team has some success.
The Russian sniper admitted during the offseason it's likely going to be a three-year deal which will leave him some wiggle room to head back to his native land to finish his hockey career.
