Anaheim Ducks Place 9 Players on Waivers!
The Anaheim Ducks have zero cap space as we are less than a week away from opening night and on Friday they decided to do some stick handling around their financials as the team has waived a whopping NINE players!
Included on the list is veteran David Backes, whose $4.5 million contract against their cap isn't ideal considering he's certainly not playing up to his contract amount.
David Backes placed on waivers by the Ducks today is Anaheim doing some salary cap stick-handling. Not about wanting to lose the player. Ducks have 9 players on waivers today.

The Ducks are an interesting team to watch in the west as goaltender John Gibson is capable of stealing games and if some of their young talent can develop on the fly, there's a chance the Ducks can sneak into the bottom of the playoff bracket.
As for Backes, last season he recorded three assists in six games for the Ducks after making his way to California via trade from the Boston Bruins. The 36-year-old is expected to play down the middle underneath Ryan Getzlaf and Adam Henrique on the Ducks depth chart.
