Another Trade Coming for the Ottawa Senators
After one of the busiest offseasons in franchise history the Ottawa Senators currently sit with a 1-5-1 record, good for the last in the entire NHL. While the team is full of young potential stars, and some aging veterans, it appears the perfect mix for game night has yet to be assembled.
While the Senators were busy shipping out a young defenseman on Wednesday, there's rumblings the team is ready to make another move in the very near future.
According to one NHL executive, Ottawa is a team to keep an eye on in the next couple of weeks:
The Senators will be busy. It's obvious the team has some players underachieving. Zaitsev leads them in points, that should tell you enough. Dadonov is struggling, White is hardly playing and Galchenyuk is a mess. Soon there's going to be decisions to be made on some of their longer contracts.
White is 23, and signed for five more seasons. He's been a healthy scratch numerous times this season. Dadonov was a prized free-agent and has two points in seven games. Matt Murray who was brought over in a trade has won one game and is carrying a .862 save percentage and is allowing 4.47 goals per game.
Something has to give. Management thinks the Sens are playoff bound and pushing for a Cup in a couple of years.
At this rate, they're lucky the NHL doesn't relegate teams.
