Barry Trotz Calls Out the Islanders
The New York Islanders are off to a 3-3 start and with their six points currently sit in 7th place in the east division. The team is currently on the outside looking in at the playoff picture and even though it's early, when there's only 56 games in a season, each game should be as intense as a playoff game.
Head coach Barry Trotz would laugh that off, as his team is completely lost at the moment and not battling for anything. Trotz had some candid things to say about the effort of the Islanders of late:
It's playoff mentality right now and I'm not sure we have our playoff mentality yet. And it's pissing me off. We need more. I just felt we had one line. That’s all I felt like I had tonight and that’s a couple games in a row here, so we’re going to shake it up and put some new people in and go from there.
Besides Mathew Barzal, the Isles don't have any players averaging a point a game. The team is desperate for offense and the likes of Josh Bailey and Brock Nelson who have three points combined are going to need to pick their socks up, or else general manager Lou Lamoriello will start making changes on the Island.
