Blue Jackets Asking Price for Dubois is Off the Charts!
The Columbus Blue Jackets are in an interesting spot as they have been given no choice but to trade their number one center and every other team in the league knows about it. Talk about losing some leverage, as Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen will have to hold a hard bargain with all teams to ensure he's receiving full value for Dubois.
While there's been a few teams like the Anaheim Ducks, Winnipeg Jets and Los Angeles Kings that make some sense, the asking price from Columbus is what's making the most noise.
During 31 Thoughts Podcast Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek suggested if the Jackets were to trade Dubois to the Montreal Canadiens, it would mean both Nick Suzuki and Jesperi Kotkaniemi would be heading to Columbus. Habs fans probably just puked a little bit in their mouths.
You can't blame Kekalainen at all though, shoot for the stars cause if you miss you land on the clouds. Ask for way more, settle for what you wanted in the first place.
If your team is preparing to trade for Pierre-Luc Dubois, think about who the top two young players are on your team, and expect to see them packing their bags if a deal gets done.
Worth it? That's for the Blue Jackets to decide.
