While most of the talk surrounding the Blue Jackets is around where Pierre-Luc Dubois will be traded to, the team still has other business they need to take care of. This extension along with a potential extension for defenseman David Savard was at the top of their list.
The 25-year-old Bjorkstrand was set to become a restricted free-agent after this season. The former third-round pick scored 21 goals in 49 games last season and broke out as one of the Blue Jackets best offensive weapons. He added another three tallies in the playoffs and is looking to build on his success from last season. Expect to see Bjorkstrand hover around another 20 goal season in this 56-game shortened campaign.
