Boston Bruins Expected To Extend Tuukka Rask

The Boston Bruins have been a force to be reckoned with for the last 10-12 years. It is no secret that their Stanley Cup window is closing quickly, but the Bruins believe extending Tuukka Rask will give them the best opportunity to win.

There will be rapid change in Boston over the next few years, evidenced by the departure of Zdeno Chara. However, GM Don Sweeney will do all he can to ensure the team is as successful as possible during this transition period. This includes resigning longtime goaltender, Tuuka Rask.

Rask was criticized for his lack of passion during the 2020 playoffs. He was further criticized for leaving the bubble during the playoffs. He noted that his lack of passion was derived from the depressing bubble environment and lack of fans, calling it "not real hockey." Furthermore, Rask was informed that his daughter was taken by ambulance the evening before his departure of the bubble. The criticism of Rask has been unfair and is not a reflection of his ability or passion for the game.

Sweeney is reportedly interested in inking Rask as soon as possible, whereas Markus Lehto, Rask's agent, is not in a rush to finalize a deal. It is understood that both Rask and the Bruins are interested in this extension, however.
