Brady Tkachuk Comments On His Future in Ottawa
The Ottawa Senators have overhauled their roster in the past 12 months and it appears there's more moves to come as management is trying to get them back into contention. Drafting well, spending wisely and catching lightning in a bottle on some trades are easy ways to improve and the team is hoping they continue to make the right moves.
This also includes keeping your best players around and for forward Brady Tkachuk, he's wondering if the team has big plans for his pocket book. The pesky winger is up for a contract extension at the end of the season and is slated to become a restricted free agent. The team still holds a ton of the cards but don't expect Tkachuk to be handing out any discount cards.
Tkachuk spoke to TSN and had this to say about contract talks:
I love it here. I love the people here, love the community. But ... we haven't really been talking about that and we don't know how the salary cap is going to look for the next couple years. Honestly, I don't think that's the focus right now on both sides. Our only goal right now is to do what we can every single day and make (the) playoffs.
Good news for Sens fans as Tkachuk appears to love the city and the team. As for Sens management, they will have over $30 million to spend next season, so anything big offseason of change could be on the way. Especially if the Senators can't keep up in the North division this year.
