BREAKING: Matt Barzal Re-Signs with Islanders

 With only four days until the start of the NHL season, the Islanders have re-signed their franchise cornerstone. The New York Islanders have re-signed Matt Barzal to a 3-year contract worth 21 million dollars. This contract carries an AAV of 7 million dollars per season. 

Barzal was viewed as one of the top restricted free-agents, having scored 60 points in 68 games last season, so a three-year contract at a modest cap hit was certainly a surprise to many.
