Brendan Gallagher Destroys Darnell Nurse With Dangerous Hit From Behind
It would be shocking if the NHL Department Of Player Safety does not take exception to the booming hit from behind laid by Brendan Gallagher on Darnell Nurse. Gallagher is a 30+ goal scorer, but he's also known to be a pest on the ice. This hit is completely ugly and has no place in the game. Thankfully Nurse was not seriously injured on the play.
It's hard to deny that this hit is dirty, even for Habs fans. Gallagher charged toward Nurse from quite a distance and didn't let up. Also, Nurse didn't turn his back at the last minute. Gallagher had sight of his numbers for several strides and still chose to lay him out. The most dangerous part of this hit is Nurse's distance from the boards. He was a stick length away from the boards which left him in an extremely vulnerable position. Gallagher only received a two minute penalty, but it won't be surprising if he is suspended for the dirty hit.
Really bad hit here by Gallagher on Darnell Nurse, given two minutes for boarding. Takes a run at him from behind, dangerous distance away from boards. pic.twitter.com/TrqBhjdkvY
