Columbus Signs Veteran Defenseman

The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced they have come to terms with veteran defenseman, Michael Del Zotto on a one-year two-way contract.

The deal pays the Stouffville, ON native $700,000 for NHL games and $400,000 for AHL games. Del Zotto spent last season with the Anaheim Ducks, appearing in 49 games and recording 15 points.

For Del Zotto he was looking to land on a team where he can contribute some meaningful minutes and a team that has a chance to make the playoffs. He hasn't played a playoff game since 2013 and at 30-years-old knows the clock is ticking.

The veteran has played 657 career games, tallying 236 points.
