Details Emerge On Awkward Flight Shared By Team Canada & Team USA Players
Team Canada and Team USA battled for the Gold Medal in the World Junior Championship Tournament. There were three Los Angeles Kings draft picks, two playing for Team USA and one playing for Team Canada. These players reported to training camp immediately following and shared an awkward flight to California.
Quinton Byfield of Team Canada and Alex Turcotte and Arthur Kaliyev of Team USA are highly touted Kings prospects. These three players shared a flight to California after USA defeated Canada for the Gold Medal. Byfield has given some details on how he as feeling on the plane after the heartbreaking loss.
Byfield said that emotions were still high after the game and did not speak to his new teammates on the flight. He waited until the next day to greet the gold plated players. There were also a number of Anaheim Ducks prospects on the flight, representing both Canada and USA. Perhaps Byfield enjoyed his last moments with his teammates before they became rivals the following day.
Byfield tells us he didn't talk to Turcotte or Kaliyev on the plane ride home. Emotions were still high. Didn't talk to them until the next day.
