Eugene Melnyk Tweets Statement Then Quickly Deletes It!
Eugene Melnyk is arguably the worst owner in major sports. The Ottawa Senators' attendance issues have existed prior to Covid-19. The arena is located in Kanata, not Ottawa, and the team has been overwhelmingly bad. He has now submitted a plan to allow 6000 fans to attend Senators home games.
The Senators are much improved this season, but external factors continue to impact fan attendance. It seems that they could easily fill a 6000 person capacity, but whether it meets Ontario Covid-19 protocols is another story.
He tweeted his statement on Twitter less than one hour ago, but has since deleted them. The hockey world is extremely excited for the Senators, but this is just another demonstration of Melnyk's tarnished reputation. Why delete these Tweets after major news outlets have reported on his comments?
