Frederik Andersen Talking Extension with Maple Leafs
Frederik Andersen is entering his fifth season with the Toronto Maple Leafs and there's a good chance it won't be his last. The Danish goalie and the Maple Leafs have held some discussions around his contract extension, which should be music to the ears of Leafs Nation.
Frederik Andersen, asked whether he's had discussions on a contract with the #leafs: "There's been a little bit."

While Andersen's regular season success hasn't yet transpired into a playoff series victory in Blue and White, all the blame can't and shouldn't fall on his shoulders. The Leafs team defense has never been above average and this season they have added a few new names which should help. The likes of TJ Brodie, Mikko Lehtonen and Zach Bogosian have been welcomed additions to the team.
The 31-year-old Andersen is currently making $5 million per season and any new contract would likely start in the $7 million range. If a deal is completed look for it to be a three-year deal that matches the contract length of his best buddy, Auston Matthews.
The two have become very close since Matthews arrived on the scene in Toronto and spend a lot of time together away from the rink.
