Huge Blow Dealt to the Pittsburgh Penguins
The Pittsburgh Penguins are off to a rough start to the 2020-21 NHL season as the team has gone 1-2 in their first three games and unfortunately, once again have been bit by the injury bug.
The team has announced defenseman Michael Matheson has been injured and is expected to be out 'longer term' with an upper-body injury.
Matheson who was brought over from the Florida Panthers in a huge trade and then signed to a long-term extension was supposed to play a massive role for the team this season and now looks like he'll miss at least a month, if not longer.
Mike Matheson out with an upper body injury. Mike Sullivan calls it longer term. I saw him getting his right shoulder worked on Friday night on the bench. Could be the injury, though I don’t know that for a fact.

He's been averaging 15:52 minutes of ice-time so far this season and it's tough for Penguins fans as each and every year they go through the same narrative. The team overachieves based on how many injuries they have and their left sitting there wondering what could have been if everyone was healthy.
