Jason Spezza's Agent Makes Shocking Statement
The Toronto Maple Leafs put forward Jason Spezza on waivers Sunday, but one thing we know for sure, he's not going to be claimed.
Spezza's agent came out publicly after the team put the veteran on waivers and made it be known, if his client gets claimed by another team, Spezza will retire from the NHL.

Spezza is still in the Leafs' plans, @reporterchris reports, but the waiver process will have to work itself out first.https://t.co/lcJFQJUJJV
Talk about all or nothing on playing your last games for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Spezza loves the blue and white and wants and will end his career as a Leaf. The team is trying to shake things up on their 4th-line and Spezza has struggled in the first three games this season, recording a sole assist.
Given last year he was in Mike Babcock's dog house from day one of training camp, to this year being waived after three games, it's been a tough go for the hometown kid.
Leafs are going to have a lot of movement here in the next couple days. https://t.co/3OF9rYDf9b

Spezza's move was all about cap space as the team has none and needs to make some room for a couple of call ups from their taxi-squad, and they need to move players onto their taxi-squad from their AHL roster.
It's a good thing somebody at the Maple Leafs office basically created the salary cap, so they should certainly know the in's and out's of how to save a few bucks here and there.
Let's hope for Leafs' fans, Spezza rides on the taxi-squad for a bit and gets called up soon and contributes.
