The Toronto Maple Leafs signed 41 year old Joe Thornton during the offseason, but most assumed he would play a limited role. According to several reports, he will play on the team's top line with their young stars.

With the return of Jason Spezza and the addition of Wayne Simmonds and Joe Thornton, the Maple Leafs will finally have a culture of leadership in their young locker room. Despite their age, they will still play a significant role on and off the ice. Joe will play on the top line with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, according to a Sportsnet report.
