Kings' Drew Doughty Calls Out His Haters

Drew Doughty expects the most out of himself every single night on the ice. The Stanley Cup champion and Olympian doesn't need anyone else to motivate him to play well. 'Dewy' knows he may not have been at his best the past couple of years, but he wants to make one thing loud and clear, he's got plenty left to give.

Doughty spoke to the media and had this to say about all the noise surrounding his name:

A lot of people have me written off as not even a good player anymore. And so, all that becomes personal and all that drives me to be better this year to make our team better. I'm seeing guys not having me (slotted) to make the Olympic team. And so, that just frustrated me.

My body is ready. I was able to actually lift weights - for real - get heavy, get much stronger. Whereas in the past, it was all maintenance stuff. So, it was a blessing in disguise for me personally. And I think for our entire team. We're all healthy again.

Doughty had a decent season last year with 35 points in 67 games. The Kings are in the middle of a transition period and the team could surprise in the west. In order to do so, Doughty will need to be the best player on the ice on a nightly basis.
