Ottawa Senators Considering 2 Players As Next Team Captain
The Ottawa Senators have announced the trio of players who will serve as the team's alternate captains this season. While there will not be an official team captain, there are two players who are being considered for next season.
There are a number of young talented players in the Ottawa Senators organization, but the captaincy generally demands both leadership and experience. Erik Gudbranson has just been named as an alternate captain, but he is not the likely candidate to wear the "C" next season.
Thomas Chabot and Brady Tkachuk, also recently named alternate captains, are the likely candidates to be named the next team captain. The organization has chose to not yet name a captain and allow these players to demonstrate their worthiness over the next season. It seems that the fan base is willing to embrace either choice, but these players will be scrutinized both on and off the ice over the next year.
The Ottawa Senators haven’t had a captain since Erik Karlsson. While they won’t be naming one this year, two players are at the forefront when the time comes.
