Rumor: If Taylor Hall Leaves, Jack Eichel to the Rangers

According to Matt Larkin of the Hockey News if Taylor Hall ends up leaving Buffalo, it could open up trade discussions for Jack Eichel. There's been multiple reports the New York Rangers pushed hard last offseason to acquire Eichel, and these talks could easily pick up if the Sabres are out of the playoff picture this season.

As for Hall he signed a one year deal in Buffalo with a no-movement clause but many believe if the Sabres are still frustrating their players and losing games, Hall will be open to heading to a contender.

Buffalo currently sits 5th in the east division and are in tough to get past the Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins to make the top-4.

Having both Hall and Eichel leaving in the same season could give management the perfect opportunity to get back a number of different pieces to start building around Dylan Cozens and Rasmus Dahlin. If the Sabres could also find a taker for Jeff Skinner and his massive contract, it's likely they would also consider the move.

As far as Eichel to the Rangers goes, names like Filip Chytil, Kaapo Kakko, K'Andre Miller, Libor Hajek, and Vitali Kravtsov would be in the conversation for the Sabres as they would look to the Rangers next wave of young talent to build their new core.
