Rumor: LA Kings Trading Anze Kopitar

The Los Angeles Kings are in the midst of a transition period as they still to refresh their lineup with some youth to go along with an aging core. While the Kings sit 3-3-2, barely on the outside looking in on the early playoff picture, rumblings have begun about what the team should do with center Anze Kopitar.

The 33-year-old Kopitar has three years left on his contract, paying him $10 million per season. His modified trade clause sees him submit a list of seven teams he's willing to be traded to.

According to SiriusXM NHL Analyst Jonathan Davis, he feels the team could move Kopitar to shore up some other holes like on defense.

Kopitar is off to a hot start with 12 points in the first eight games, and would still fetch solid trade value on the open market.

While it's certainly all speculation at this point, but moving a $10 million player is no easy task. Perhaps the Nashville Predators and New York Rangers would take a look as they have a ton of young depth on defense and a bit of cap room to work with.
