The NHL May Postpone Start Date Of 2021 Season
Players are back in training camp and the NHL season is set to begin this week. Covid-19 may interfere with these plans, however. Now that there has been an outbreak within the league, the NHL may be forced to delay the beginning of the season.
The Dallas Stars have announced that many players and staff members have tested positive for Covid-19. Moreover, the Columbus Blue Jackets held some players out of practice out of "an abundance of caution". The season has not yet begun and Covid-19 has already posed adverse impacts to the league. Some will argue that delaying league play will not accomplish anything, whereas others believe it is imperative to preserve the health of players and staff.
A few NHL execs have wondered if it would have better to start the season Feb 1 in anticipation of something like this. Not sure a delayed start would make a difference. https://t.co/0vyooll5Ef
