Vancouver Canucks Expected To Extend Travis Green
The Vancouver Canucks will have to perform some salary cap gymnastics as Elias Pettersson, Quinn Hughes, and Thatcher Demko are entering the last year of their entry level contracts. Head Coach Travis Green is also in need of a contract extension that is expected to be done this week.
General Manager Jim Benning has stated that the Canucks intend to keep Green behind the bench for years to come. Green is entering his fourth year as the bench boss and has been nothing less than impressive. Despite a 102-103-28 record behind the bench, the team's young stars have elevated their quality of play and overall expectations.
The Canucks fell to the Vegas Golden Knights in the second round of the 2020 playoffs, but many have proclaimed them to be cup contenders in the upcoming season. Although many have said that Green was not a model player and would be the last person expected to become an NHL coach (Brian Burke), he has demonstrated that he is more than capable for the job.
Nothing's been signed yet, but Jim Benning says the Canucks intend to ink Travis Green to an extension.https://t.co/fROdxoeydi
