Vancouver Canucks Make Free-Agent Splash
The Vancouver Canucks lost a slew of players to the Calgary Flames this offseason and it appears they are returning the favor as the team is bringing in defenseman Travis Hamonic on a professional tryout, which will likely lead to a one-year deal worth roughly $1 million.
Certainly will be more detail in morning, but there are rumblings Travis Hamonic will go to VAN on a PTO. GM Jim Benning and coach Travis Green are scheduled to speak on Sunday.

Hamonic has spent the past three seasons in Calgary. His best season came in 2019 when he finished with 19 points and was a plus 21. Hamonic did not play last playoffs and dropped out of the bubble due to health concerns for himself and his family.
The 30-year-old Hamonic won't contribute much offensively but he plays a physical game and when he's playing his A-Game, is one of the best shot blockers in the game. Hamonic's next game will be his 638th of his career.
With the Canucks losing the likes of Chris Tanev and Troy Stecher on their right-side of their defense, Hamonic seemed like the perfect replacement and it appears he will be exactly that for the Canucks.
We originally reported on December 15th Hamonic was heading to the Canucks.
Hamonic should be a good fit with the Canucks. All indications point at a 1 year deal once Canucks move money or apply LTIR (Ferland).
