Video: First Look At Zdeno Chara as a Washington Capital
Welcome to weird.
Zdeno Chara of the Washington Capitals hit the ice for the first time and even typing that out feels funny. The long-time Boston Bruin decided to jump ship and sign a one-year deal in Washington after the Bruins were only going to offer him a reserve role that included sitting out back-to-backs.
The 43-year-old appeared in 68 games last year, only recording 14 points. It matched his production from the season before and was the lowest amount of points he's produced in 20 years. Yes, Chara is slowing down but that doesn't mean he can't be effective given the right amount of ice-time.

Chara moved on and for hockey fans across the world it's going to be hard to do the same. Chara not in black and yellow looks funny, but surely after a few games we'll all be used to it. Probably not, but still, in case you were wondering how weird it's going to look, here's your first glimpse at Zdeno Chara, Washington Capital.
If this is how the Zdeno Chara era ended in Boston — in an empty Scotiabank Arena back in August — that's a damn shame for all involved. pic.twitter.com/ayfeA759zM
