Video: Zdeno Chara Makes History While Manhandling the Sabres
Zdeno Chara shocked the hockey world when he jumped ship from the Boston Bruins and made way one a one-year deal to join Alex Ovechkin with the Washington Capitals. And while Ovechkin and his Russian teammates were out of the lineup against the Buffalo Sabres on Friday night, Chara showed his new teammates he's capable of helping carrying the load.
Chara was a beast on Friday, showing the world he's not slowing down at 43-years-old. The towering defenseman played almost 20 minutes against the Sabres, but it was his second period assist that put Chara in the record books once again.

Recording an assist for the @Capitals vs BUF tonight, Zdeno Chara joins Doug Harvey (22 from 1968-69), Allan Stanley (6 in 1969), Tim Horton (15 from 1973-74) & Chris Chelios (34 from 2005-08) as the only 5 defencemen in NHL history to post a (regular season) point at 43 or older pic.twitter.com/iVFjyWvldR

Here's Curtis Lazar wishing Chara had retired when the Bruins told him they wanted to use him in a reserve role:
