Anthony DeAngelo to be Traded by the Rangers
The New York Rangers dealt the NHL world some shock this past weekend as the team waived 25-year-old defenseman Anthony DeAngelo on Sunday. The move comes after a reported altercation with a teammate after the Rangers overtime loss to the Penguins.
DeAngelo can certainly play a little bit as he's coming off a 53 point season in 2020 and is signed for this season and next at $4.8 million. So far this season he's been quiet, with only one assist in six games, and a minus six rating.
With DeAngelo clearing waivers on Monday, the team is reportedly now trying to facilitate a trade instead of buying him out. This according to TSN's Darren Dreger.
Spoke with DeAngelo’s agent, Pat Brisson. He says he and Rangers GM Jeff Gorton are talking with clubs with trade interest in DeAngelo. Brisson is confident they will get something done in the near future. In the meantime, DeAngelo will remain at home awaiting a deal.

There's a number of teams that need defensemen including the Pittsburgh Penguins, Winnipeg Jets and Calgary Flames, but the biggest question is do they want to bring in someone who has a checkered past to say the least.
Look for something to materialize quickly as the Rangers want to get rid of DeAngelo as soon as possible.
