Blackhawks GM Very Concerned About Brent Seabrook's Health
Brent Seabrook has four years left on his current contract that sees him paid $6.85 million per season by the Chicago Blackhawks. As it looks right now, Seabrook may be getting paid to stay home and watch.
This unfortunate situation with Seabrook's declining health has led to Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman coming out on Monday to provide everyone with an update on the matter. Bowman had this to say about Seabrook's health via Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun Times:
We’re very concerned for him. He’s been a warrior for us. Think of his time in Chicago - he never really missed any games. But now we’re realizing he was playing through a lot of pain those years, and it’s caught up to him.
He was dealing with his shoulders and his hips to the point where he probably should have had (the surgeries) done years ago, but that’s how he’s always been driven - to keep moving forward, don’t worry about injuries, play through it.
This recent set back has held Seabrook out of action this season and saw him only play 32 games in 2019-2020. At this time there is no timetable for a return. Seabrook has made it known it's his intention to play hockey again, however, at this point, that does not seem likely.

Brent Seabrook's back injury — suffered just days before training camp began — sounds like it will keep him out for a while.
