Detroit Red Wings Open To Multiple Trades

The Detroit Red Wings are quickly becoming sellers and are open to moving some pending free-agents. According to Frank Seravalli of TSN, the Red Wings are interested in moving out forwards Bobby Ryan, Luke Glendening and defenseman Marc Staal.

Ryan is currently making a reasonable $1 million as his one-year contract with the Wings has looked like some found money. So far the 33-year-old veteran has scored five goals and recorded nine points in 20 games and any contending team could certainly use Ryan's skills up front and on their power-play.

As for Glendening he's a faceoff specialist that would be some stability to a bottom-six. His penalty killing abilities along with his shut down game would benefit a ton of clubs. The 31-year-old has played his entire career with the Wings and it appears this is the season he will finally be moved at the deadline. So far this season he has four points in 19 games.

Staal is someone who can provide playoff teams with a veteran presence and he's still capable of playing significant minutes. The 34-year-old is the most expensive of the three available Red Wings as he's making $5.7 million, but of course the actual cap hit decreases as we approach the trade deadline. The long-time New York Ranger has been steady for Detroit in his first season in Michigan as he's played in 21 games and recorded four points.

Don't expect any blockbuster moves out of the Red Wings but they will be selling their rentals at this year's trade deadline.
