Huge Blow Dealt to the Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche were heavy favorites before this season started to win the Stanley Cup. Everyone that picked them likely made mention 'if they stay healthy'. Well, so far this season the injuries were avoided, until a few days ago when the injury bug took a huge chomp out of the Avs.
Superstar Nathan MacKinnon is out with a lower-body injury and is expected to miss a couple of weeks minimum. The 25-year-old has registered 14 points in 10 games so far this season and having him out of the lineup will be a large task on the hands of the Avs. The most underpaid player in the league is the gas that powers Colorado's engine, so let's hope for their fanbase's sake, the likes of Mikko Rantanen and Gab Landeskog can help carry the load.
Meanwhile the team has several other players on the shelve as well, including Devon Toews, Pavel Francouz and Matt Calvert.
The Avalanche currently sit with a 6-3-1 record and will look for some solid team play to help keep them afloat while their best player is sidelined.
