Maple Leafs Acquire Alex Galchenyuk From Hurricanes
The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced they have acquired Alex Galchenyuk from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for forward Egor Korshkov and defenseman David Warsofsky. This comes after Galchenyuk was moved to the Hurricanes via the Ottawa Senators and we shared the report another deal was likely coming.
Galchenyuk, 27, who probably didn't have his name printed on a Hurricanes jersey, now heads to his 7th franchise in the last four seasons. The former 3rd overall pick couldn't find his way with the Senators and the Leafs decided to take a flyer. Maybe the extra motivation playing the Sens and Montreal Canadiens will do Galchenyuk wonders.
The Leafs were looking to make a move to improve their depth and this will certainly give them another option for their fourth-line and someone who can do spot duty when injuries occur.

An interesting element of the deal was Galcenyuk hadn’t left to his AHL destination so no quarantine will be needed and he can join the Leafs asap.
So far this season the Russian winger has one goal in eight games and is making just over $1 million on the cap.
Low risk deal for the Leafs as Kyle Dubas and company hope Galchenyuk can find his scoring touch that saw him pot 30 and have several seasons over 40 points.
