Matthews Out. Muzzin, Thornton and Campbell Return for Leafs vs. Oilers

Toronto Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews will sit out tonight's match versus the Edmonton Oilers, according to head coach Sheldon Keefe via Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

Matthews is nursing a wrist injury that has been a problem "virtually all season," according to Keefe. He appeared to aggravate it in Wednesday's win against the Calgary Flames as he crashed into the end boards after a rush towards the net.

Goalie Jack Campbell, defenseman Jake Muzzin and veteran forward Joe Thornton will all return for the Leafs' line up tonight, giving them some much needed reinforcements in Edmonton.

Campbell's last game was Jan. 24, but he will likely get the start as Freddie Andersen sits out with a lower-body injury. Muzzin missed the last two games due to an injury to his face, while Thronton also missed the last two games with an undisclosed injury. He was riding a four-game point streak when he was taken out of the lineup.

Muzzin will return with the full face shield.
