Patrik Laine Calls Out Officials Over Botched Offside
The Columbus Blue Jackets lost to the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday and if you ask anyone from the Blue Jackets, they will tell you a botched offside was to blame.
The newest Blue Jacket, Patrik Laine was as candid as ever after the game and was not happy with the call made on the ice. Columbus even tried calling the play on the ice and were unsuccessful, meanwhile the league came out after the game to admit there was miscommunication and they did indeed get the call wrong.
The NHL's statement included:
During the review, a miscommunication occurred between the video replay booth in Columbus, the linesmen and the situation room and play resumed before all replays could be reviewed to confirm the offside. The challenge by Columbus should have resulted in the Carolina goal being disallowed. Subsequently, Columbus was assessed a delay of game penalty. After confirmation in the intermission that the play was offside, the remaining 0:45 of the delay of game penalty issued was rescinded to begin the third period.
Patrik Laine to the Athletic - "That's the biggest joke I've ever seen."
Carolina ended up winning the game 6-5. See the nonsense for yourself.

per @shelleyhawk45 it’s believed on the reverse angle that Trochek was in fact, offside, the penalty has been taken off the board. The goal remains. #CBJ #Canes https://t.co/436M41MaTo pic.twitter.com/o2L6Po99bW
