Pittsburgh Penguins Make Shocking New Hires!
The Pittsburgh Penguins have had themselves quite the day as the team will be finalizing two massive additions to their front office. The team will be hiring long-time rival Ron Hextall as the team's new general manager and in a shocking development will also be hiring Brian Burke as President of hockey operations. We first reported Hextall being the favorite for the GM position back on February 4th.

Burke, who is currently working for Sportsnet as a media personality will be joining forces with Hextall in Pittsburgh to form quite the intimidating tandem. Burke of course has worked for a number of different teams over his career including more recently with the Calgary Flames.
Hextall has served in NHL front offices dating back to 1999, when he began working for the Philadelphia Flyers as a scout. He'd eventually serve as GM for the team, after a stint with the Los Angeles Kings organization. According to Elliotte Friedman, the Penguins interviewed at least eight people for the open GM position including interim GM Patrik Allvin, John Ferguson Jr., Mike Futa, Mark Hunter, Jason Karmanos, Chris MacFarland, Kevin Weeks and Hextall.
Congrats to Ron Hextall and Brian Burke on their new positions!
