Rumor: John Tortorella Wants Out of Columbus
The Columbus Blue Jackets have become headline central around the NHL media as the small market in Ohio appears to be constantly full of heat and drama. While first it was Pierre-Luc Dubois wanting out, to Patrik Laine being benched, now according to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic, head coach John Tortorella has some alternative motives.
Portzline covers the Blue Jackets better than anyone on the planet and recently touched on the fact some within the Blue Jackets organization think Tortorella's antics are a cry for help:
At times, I have this thought in the back of my mind that John Tortorella is almost wanting to be let go. That’s how I read some of these moves. He’s in the last year of his contract, I don’t think he’s coming back and I wonder if he’s sort of ready for it to end here.
While there's certainly something all the time, if Torts wanted to be done so bad, why wouldn't he just resign? Well, the millions of dollars of course.
John Tortorella has problems keeping things internally within the team and loves to share as much with the media as he can. His 'get it out in the open' strategy may have worked in the past, but it's certainly not working now.
Who leaves Columbus first....Patrik Laine or Torts?
