Senators Murray Calls Himself Out After Ugly Loss to Maple Leafs
Good for Matt Murray for being accountable. The Ottawa Senators goaltender had a terrible performance on Thursday night but even his coach said it wasn't his fault. The team started Marcus Hogberg, who ended up leaving to injury and Murray, who thought he was getting the night off, ended up going in.
The rest is history.
The Leafs ended up scoring seven goals on Thursday night and laid a beating on the Senators. Here's what Murray had to say after the game as the Sens are now 4-14-1 on the season:
Bottom line, this one's on me. For sure, it's tough going in like that, but that's not an excuse. I think I could have done a better job and given us a chance to win.
Murray allowed six goals on 26 shots and now carries a .878 save percentage which is almost dead last in the league. One problem for the Sens, Hogberg is worse, has his save percentage is .859.
The 26-year-old Murray was signed to a four-year contract before ever suiting up for a game in Ottawa and now has three-years left at $6.25 million per season.
Regrets, anyone?
