Sharks Coach Calls Out Goaltender Martin Jones
The San Jose Sharks acquired Devan Dubnyk this offseason as they were looking for ways to push starter, Martin Jones to improve his game. Needless to say it hasn't happened and Sharks head coach, Bob Boughner is sick and tired of seeing Jones struggle.
The Sharks lost to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night and Boughner met with the media after and didn't hold back on his netminder's performance:
That's not up to our standard, that goaltending. I mean, we've given him a chance here to grab the net, especially with (Devan Dubnyk) being hurt. Again, we're not expecting him to win hockey games for us, to stand on his head. But we've got to have solid goaltending, especially at the beginning of games. It's not up to our standard and I'm sure it's not up to his own.
Hopefully Jones can shake off the chirps and get back on track for the Sharks. His .865 save % and his 4.09 goals against average just aren't cutting it. Especially for over $5 million a season.
