Two Teams to Consider if Jack Eichel Gets Traded From Buffalo

The Buffalo Sabres can't seem to find their stride and this has been going on for several years now. Their captain Jack Eichel made it known last season that he was frustrated with the direction of the franchise. In the off season the team made several moves to try and get things turned around, and unfortunately they haven't worked as the Sabres sit 4-7-2, good for 30th in the league.

According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, if the Sabres end up moving Eichel either this season or next, expect the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings to make serious offers.

They asked Eichel to take a step last year and he really did, we’ve talked about how much of a step Eichel took last year. Still, when it came to team success it just didn’t really go anywhere. Now you look at where it is this year, you know he’s going to be frustrated…

Eichel's no-movement clause doesn't kick in until the 2022-23 season, when there will also be another $7.5 million signing bonus that's also owed to the Sabres captain. It would make sense if the Sabres are moving on from their star captain, they would deal him before then.

The 24-year-old has two goals and 12 points in 13 games this season and even with Taylor Hall on his team, it's the other aspects of the Sabres roster that needs work.

As for the Rangers and Kings, they have the upcoming cap space and the young assets to make deals work, and you can bet Eichel would love to play in either market.

It's certainly going to be an interesting summer for Sabres' fans.
