3 Montreal Canadiens Most Likely to be Traded

The Montreal Canadiens are managed by one of the biggest risk-takers in the NHL as Marc Bergevin loves to make bold moves. Recently he mentioned he wasn't likely to make a trade and then less than 48 hours later a deal was announced. The Canadiens are gearing up for a big playoff push and you can expect to see at least one more move from the team before the April 12th trade deadline.

3 Montreal Canadiens Most Likely to be Traded

Victor Mete, LHD

The young smooth-skating Mete has been rumored to be traded this season, yet nothing has come to fruition just yet. The 22-year-old is a pending restricted free-agent has appeared in eight games and has one point, which is certainly a step back from his 11 points in 51 games last season. If the Canadiens end up trading for a veteran defenseman, expect to see Mete going back the other way.

Joel Armia, RW

There was a lot of talk about an Armia swap with the Calgary Flames for Sam Bennett but those talks have quieted of late. Armia is a pending unrestricted free-agent and has scored five goals in 24 games. He's only making $2.6 million on the cap this season, so if the Habs end up acquiring a big name winger like a Filip Forsberg, Armia would be a throw in to help facilitate the finances.

Paul Byron, LW/RW

Byron is currently on the team's taxi-squad as it's been a rough season for the  31-year-old. He does have two years left on his contract, at $2.27 million per season. The trade market for Byron couldn't be colder so he's only going to be a 'throw-in' for a deal or the Habs could retain a portion of his salary to get him 'off' their books for the next two seasons.
